New Delhi: Around 200 SpiceJet passengers staged protests at Delhi airport’s Terminal 3 after their Dubai-bound flights suffered inordinate delays and repeated reschedulings since Monday, according to a source.

The disruption impacted flights SG 5111 and SG 5105, which were originally slated to depart for Dubai on Monday morning and evening, respectively. Following the rescheduling, numerous passengers found themselves stranded at the airport. The source added that airport officials have engaged with SpiceJet executives regarding the demonstrations.

Addressing the situation on Tuesday, an airline spokesperson expressed deep regret for the inconvenience caused and confirmed that alternate travel arrangements were underway.

The spokesperson stated in an official statement that SpiceJet flights SG 5111 and SG 5105, operating from Delhi to Dubai, were delayed due to operational reasons following the grounding of an aircraft.

The incident comes as the carrier continues to navigate a series of ongoing operational and financial challenges. Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu recently informed PTI that both the aviation ministry and regulator DGCA are maintaining close oversight on SpiceJet’s financials and operations. (PTI)
