A 26-year-old man of Indian origin, Gurbhej Singh, has been killed following a stabbing in Southall, according to the Metropolitan Police Service.

Police said the incident happened shortly after 00:30 on Wednesday on North Road, near its junction with Dormers Wells Lane, where officers and paramedics responded to reports of a knife attack outside a shop.

Mr Singh was found with a serious knife wound and was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency treatment. A second man, believed to be in his 30s, was also injured in the attack and was taken to hospital; he has since been discharged.

Following the incident, seven men aged in their 20s to 30s were arrested on suspicion of murder. After initial enquiries, six were released with no further action. One man has been bailed and is due to return to custody at a later date.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command are continuing to investigate. They have appealed for witnesses and anyone with CCTV or mobile phone footage from the area at the time to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell said officers are continuing to support Mr Singh’s family and are treating the investigation as a priority, urging anyone with relevant information to assist the inquiry.
