'No fingerprint mismatch in Saif Ali Khan attack case,' claims Mumbai Police

Mumbai: Dismissing the reports of a mismatch of fingerprints of the accused in the case of attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, the Mumbai Police clarified on Tuesday that the fingerprint results are still awaited. The Mumbai Police also announced that they have gathered substantial evidence against the suspect arrested in the case. During a press conference, senior police officials shared details about the investigation into the high-profile case.
The police stated that they have recorded the statements of all relevant individuals involved in the case. They also refuted claims that Saif took 101 minutes to reach the hospital following the attack.
To recap, the actor was stabbed by an intruder on January 16 at his residence in Bandra. Saif was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital in a blood-soaked kurta after the attack. He underwent surgery to treat his injuries and was reportedly transported to the hospital in an auto-rickshaw.
As part of the investigation, police have collected the actor’s blood samples and clothing. The accused, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, allegedly broke into Saif's home intending to commit theft. A violent confrontation ensued, during which the actor sustained stab wounds to his thoracic spine and other areas of his body.
The police managed to apprehend the suspect within 70 hours of the attack after forming 12 special teams to track him down.
Shehzad is currently in police custody and will remain so until January 29.
