Blast near Red Fort: PM Modi condoles deaths, Amit Shah visits injured at Delhi hospital

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the Red Fort blast in Delhi that claimed at least 10 lives and left several others injured. The explosion occurred in a Hyundai i20 car near Gate No. 1 of the Lal Quila Metro Station, sending shockwaves across the national capital.

Taking to X, the Prime Minister said, “Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover at the earliest. Those affected are being assisted by authorities. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah Ji and other officials.”

Following the blast, Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited LNJP Hospital, where the injured victims are being treated. He also briefed the media about the situation and assured them that a comprehensive investigation is underway.

Police, fire services, and anti-terror units were deployed to the site shortly after the incident, with the area cordoned off for forensic examination.

Authorities have reported that 10 people have died, while several others remain in critical condition. A senior official from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) confirmed that multiple fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames and secure the area.

Security agencies have been placed on high alert across Delhi and neighbouring regions, including Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the explosion was an accident or a planned attack.
