New Delhi: The BJP on Friday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US as "landmark" and hit back at Rahul Gandhi, accusing the Congress leader of suffering from an obsession with issues such as "Adani, Hindenburg and Rafale."

The BJP's remarks came after Gandhi accused Modi of "covering up" alleged corruption involving businessman Gautam Adani. BJP national spokesperson Ajay Alok responded, stating, "He is suffering from obsessive-compulsive neurosis (sic). So, he is obsessed with Adani, Hindenburg and Rafale. His world revolves around all those questions. And that's why, he is also moving towards mental instability."

Alok added that while the heads of two nations were meeting in Washington, "there is no time to discuss about any individual there (in such meetings)."

Another BJP spokesperson, Shehzad Poonawalla, took to X, stating, "PM Narendra Modi's impactful USA visit solidified India-US bonds like never before." He called it "a landmark visit," listing Modi’s achievements during the trip.

Senior BJP leader and national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain also lauded the visit, highlighting US President Donald Trump's approval of the extradition of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Tahawwur Rana. Hussain described the decision as a "very big diplomatic victory for India," adding that Modi had convinced the US to make this move.

Hussain further criticised Gandhi’s accusations, saying the Congress leader should remember that Modi visited the US as the Prime Minister of India, representing 140 crore people, not as a BJP leader. "Finding faults with the prime minister's foreign visits has become a habit of the Congress," he remarked.

Earlier, Gandhi had questioned Modi's silence on issues within India, claiming, "If you ask questions in the country, there is silence. If you ask abroad, it is a personal matter! Even in America, Modi Ji covered up Adani Ji's corruption!"

Gandhi's comments were in response to Modi's remarks during a joint media briefing with Trump in Washington, where he was asked about the Adani issue.

Modi had replied, "India is a democracy and our culture is 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. We consider the whole world as one family. I believe every Indian is mine," and added, "Two prominent leaders of two countries never discuss such individual issues."
