Rahul Gandhi leads INDIA bloc march in open vehicle towards Ramlila Maidan

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday began the INDIA bloc's ‘Chalo Dilli’ march in an open vehicle, heading towards Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi to lead the opposition's protest against alleged irregularities in electoral rolls under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule accompanied Rahul Gandhi in the vehicle as the march proceeded towards the rally venue.
The INDIA bloc has accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of overseeing the deletion of legitimate voters' names, particularly those belonging to marginalised, backward and minority communities, during the SIR exercise.
The Opposition has demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, alleging that the poll body has failed to safeguard electoral integrity.
The march comes a day after INDIA bloc leaders held a symbolic mock impeachment event at the residence of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
Several prominent opposition leaders, including Kharge, Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, are participating in the rally at Ramlila Maidan.
