Punjab soldier's teen son saves 5 lives through organ donation after fatal accident

Chandigarh: The family of 18-year-old Arshdeep, who was declared brain dead following a road accident, has donated his organs, giving a second chance to five patients. Arshdeep, the son of an army soldier, was involved in a severe crash on February 8 near Ropar, Punjab, which caused head and chest injuries.
Despite the efforts of doctors at the Command Hospital, Chandimandir, Arshdeep was declared brain dead on February 15. In a courageous decision, his family agreed to donate his organs. As a result, his kidneys, pancreas, liver, and corneas were transplanted, providing new hope to five individuals in need.
Arshdeep’s kidney and pancreas were sent to PGIMER for a Simultaneous Kidney-Pancreas (STK) transplant, while his liver and kidney went to Army Hospital Research and Referral (AHRR) in New Delhi, where two patients received life-saving transplants. His corneas were preserved in the Eye Bank, giving sight to two visually impaired individuals.
