‘Going to divorce this selfish woman’: Mulayam Singh’s son Prateek’s post against wife sparks buzz

New Delhi: Prateek Yadav, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav and brother of party chief Akhilesh Yadav, on Monday announced that he will be divorcing his wife, BJP leader Aparna Yadav, accusing her of damaging his family relationships.

Prateek and Aparna were married in 2011 and have a daughter.

In a post on Instagram, Prateek shared a picture of Aparna and described her as a "family destroyer" and "selfish", alleging that she had “ruined” his family ties. He also said he is struggling with poor mental health. However, it remains unclear whether his account was hacked. An official confirmation is still awaited.

"I am going to divorce this selfish woman as soon as possible. She ruined my family ties. All she wants to become is famous and influential. Right now, i am very bad mental health condition, and she doesn't bother. Because it's only herself she bothers about. I have never seen such a bad soul, and I was unfortunate to get married to her," the post reads.

Aparna Yadav began her political career with the Samajwadi Party and contested the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election from Lucknow Cantonment on the party’s ticket, but lost to BJP’s Rita Bahuguna Joshi. In 2022, she joined the BJP. She currently serves as Vice Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission.
