Mobile phone found with Prajwal Revanna in jail; CCB registers case under Prisons Act

Bengaluru: Former MP Prajwal Revanna, who is serving a life sentence in a rape case, was among two inmates found with mobile phones during a CCB raid at Bengaluru's Parappana Agrahara Jail.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) conducted the raid at the prison and recovered mobile phones from Revanna and another inmate, identified as Prathap Rai. A case has been registered against the two under Section 42 of the Prisons Act.
Following the recovery of the phones, officials are reviewing CCTV footage from the prison and gathering further details as part of the inquiry.

Officials are expected to serve notices and initiate further action after examining the available evidence.

Revanna, a former JD(S) MP, is currently serving his life sentence at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail.

Revanna was sentenced to life imprisonment in August 2025 after being convicted in one of the rape cases against him.
