Paris, France: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit in France, scheduled for February 10-11, 2025. French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed Modi's participation during his address at the 30th Conference of Ambassadors on Friday.

President Macron highlighted the importance of the upcoming summit, which will foster global dialogue on AI. "France will be hosting the AI Summit on February 10-11. A summit for action, as we call it. This summit will allow for an international conversation on AI. There will be Prime Minister Modi, who will move up to a major visit in our country as we want to forge a dialogue with all powers on AI," he said.

The summit will bring together major AI players, including the US, China, India, and countries from the Gulf region, all of which have significant roles in AI development and regulation. "The US, China, and major emerging countries such as India have a key role to play, as well as the Gulf," Macron emphasized.

Focus on innovation, talent

Macron further explained that the summit would focus on innovation, talent, and positioning France and Europe as leaders in the global AI landscape. "The summit's core for me will be innovation and the ability to attract talent and to have France and Europe at the heart of the AI battle," he added.

The French Presidency had earlier confirmed India’s invitation to the AI summit in December, calling India a "very important country." “We have invited India and are working very closely with India in the run-up to the summit. Misinformation and misuse of AI are themes that will be addressed,” said the French Presidency. They also emphasized India's potential to make a significant impact on global AI discussions, especially in terms of its influence on people’s lives.

Summit details, key themes

The AI Action Summit will be held at the Grand Palais in Paris and will gather leaders from various sectors, including heads of state, CEOs, academics, NGOs, and artists. The event will focus on five key themes: public interest in AI, the future of work, innovation and culture, trust in AI, and global AI governance. The summit will also address critical issues such as AI misuse and disinformation, which will be central to the discussions.

On February 10, participants will engage in multiple sessions, followed by a formal dinner hosted by President Macron for heads of state and other VIPs. On February 11, the summit will feature an exclusive leaders' session for heads of state. The AI Action Summit promises to be a landmark event in shaping the future of AI on a global scale.
