Jammu: A Pakistani intruder was apprehended in an injured state on Monday after Border Security Force (BSF) personnel opened fire upon spotting a group attempting to cross into Indian territory along the International Border in Kathua district, Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

According to officials, the group was detected around 4 p.m. between the Chandwan and Kothey border outposts in the Hiranagar sector. The BSF troops challenged the intruders and issued repeated warnings to stop, but the group ignored them, prompting the personnel at the forward posts to open fire.

One intruder sustained injuries in the firing and was subsequently arrested. He was immediately taken to a hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities said the identity of the injured man, as well as the motive for the infiltration attempt, is under investigation.
