Pahalgam terror attack: PM Modi meets Air Chief, say sources

New Delhi: Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday to discuss the evolving security situation, according to sources cited by ANI.
The meeting follows a similar engagement on Saturday between PM Modi and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi at the Prime Minister’s official residence on Lok Kalyan Marg. These high-level discussions come in the wake of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 people, most of them tourists.
The Air Chief’s meeting with the Prime Minister took place just days after PM Modi chaired a comprehensive security review attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, the three service chiefs, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
A meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) was also held shortly after the Pahalgam attack. During the briefing, officials highlighted the cross-border linkages of the assault, which coincided with peaceful elections in Jammu and Kashmir and the region’s ongoing development efforts.
The government has reiterated its commitment to taking "firm and decisive" action against terrorism and has granted the armed forces complete operational freedom to determine the mode, timing, and nature of India's response.
Opposition parties have extended their full support to any government action in response to the attack. In addition, the Centre has announced several measures aimed at increasing pressure on Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and the closure of key transit links.
The government has vowed to hold the perpetrators and their backers accountable, signalling a strong and unified national resolve against cross-border terrorism.
