PM Modi launches first phase of Noida International Airport in Jewar | WATCH

New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the first phase of the Noida International Airport, marking a significant milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure development.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Yogi Adityanath, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, and other dignitaries during the ceremony. Extensive security arrangements were put in place ahead of the high-profile visit.

Developed at an estimated cost of ₹11,200 crore, the first phase of the airport is designed as a comprehensive multi-modal transport hub. It aims to provide seamless connectivity through road, rail, metro, and regional transport networks, enhancing accessibility across the region.

According to an official statement, the project also includes a multi-modal cargo hub with an initial handling capacity of over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes per annum. This capacity is expected to be scaled up significantly to around 18 lakh metric tonnes in the future.

In terms of passenger traffic, the airport’s initial capacity has been set at 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA), with provisions to expand it to 70 million MPPA in subsequent phases.

During his visit, the Prime Minister also inspected the airport terminal, reviewing the progress of the newly developed infrastructure.
