New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday denied Trump’s claims of the US’s role in the ceasefire. He was responding to the Opposition’s repeated questions about why US President Donald Trump had announced a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, in the ongoing debate about the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha.

Modi clarified that no country in the world had ever stopped India from taking action to defend itself against terrorism, referring to India’s effective counterattack on Pakistan on May 9, which meant that not one of Pakistan’s missiles landed in India. Modi clarified that no country in the world had ever stopped India from taking action to defend itself against terrorism.

Modi claimed that he had received 3-4 calls from the US Vice President JD Vance on May 9. Since the PM was in a meeting with the armed forces at the time, he returned the call later.

According to Modi, Vance warned him of a big attack that Pakistan was planning, to which the PM confidently responded that if Pakistan launched an attack, they would pay a heavy price. He assured the VP that India's retaliation would be lethal.

"When I returned the call, the US Vice President warned me of a big attack from Pakistan. I told him that if Pakistan attacks India, our attack would be much bigger as we will respond to bullets with cannons," Modi said.

He further pointed out that the Pakistani airbases targeted by India during Operation Sindoor were "still in ICU" and that the masterminds behind the April 22 terror attack were restless due to India’s decisive actions.

Modi also noted that, at the UN, only three countries had spoken in favour of Pakistan, while the rest of the world had witnessed India’s growing strength and self-reliance. "The world saw the strength of self-reliant India during Operation Sindoor. We destroyed terror sites deep inside Pakistan within 22 minutes to avenge the April 22 Pahalgam attack," he said, underlining how the Operation revealed the timeliness and precision of India’s defense forces.
