6 NEET-UG candidates move SC over alleged OMR sheet discrepancies

New Delhi: Six NEET-UG 2026 candidates have moved the Supreme Court alleging discrepancies between the answers they marked in their OMR sheets during the examination and the copies uploaded by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The matter was mentioned before Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Tuesday, with the petitioners seeking an urgent hearing before the commencement of the counselling process.

Appearing for the students, the counsel told a bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana that all six candidates had scored above 600, with some securing more than 650 marks, but claimed the OMR sheets uploaded by the NTA did not match the answers they had actually marked in the examination.

The lawyer further submitted that the students had emailed the NTA and also visited its office to seek clarification, but allegedly received no response.

After hearing the submissions, the bench agreed to list the matter for hearing.

The NEET-UG 2026 examination, originally conducted on May 3, was cancelled following a paper leak and was re-conducted by the National Testing Agency on June 21.
