'Will remove all the infiltrators': PM Modi pledges strict action on illegal immigration

Ekta Nagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that illegal immigration is disrupting the demographic balance in parts of India and urged citizens to pledge to remove infiltrators, whom he described as a "big threat to unity and integrity" of the nation.
Addressing a programme commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Modi criticised those opposing government actions against infiltrators, accusing them of disregarding the risk of the country’s division.
"Today, the country's unity and integrity face a big threat from infiltrators," Modi said after witnessing the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas parade. He accused previous governments of ignoring this threat, prioritising vote bank politics over national security.
Modi recalled announcing the Demography Mission on August 15, 2025, aimed at combating the threat of illegal immigration. He condemned political groups that, instead of prioritising the country, are fighting to protect infiltrators for their own interests.
He warned that opposing efforts to tackle infiltration is tantamount to indifference toward the country’s potential disintegration and called for a unified pledge on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to remove all infiltrators from Bharat.
The prime minister’s remarks appeared to reference concerns about Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltration in eastern and north-eastern states such as Assam and West Bengal, which have triggered demographic anxieties. Modi has framed the Demography Mission as a national security imperative to address the social and economic impacts of illegal migration, especially in border regions.
