Former Union Minister's daughter booked for allegedly assaulting SBI manager at Chennai branch

Chennai: The Adyar police have registered a case against Kayalvizhi Azhagiri, daughter of former Union Minister MK Azhagiri, following allegations that she assaulted and threatened the manager of a State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Chennai.

The case was registered based on a complaint filed by SBI's chief manager, Namachivayam, on July 21.

According to the complaint, Harsheen Singh, manager of the bank's NRI branch in Adyar, had informed Kayalvizhi, the owner of the building housing the branch, about the need to repair a faulty lift after her representative allegedly failed to respond to repeated requests.

The complaint alleges that Kayalvizhi later visited the branch, verbally abused Singh, assaulted him and threatened him during an altercation.

CCTV footage of the incident, which surfaced later, purportedly shows Kayalvizhi slapping the branch manager across the table while the two were speaking inside his cabin.

Police have registered a case under Sections 296(b) (uttering obscene words), 329(4) (house trespass), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
