A tragic fire in Kalalwadi claims the lives of a grandmother and two grandchildren

Telangana: A grandmother and her two grandchildren were killed after a massive fire broke out at their home in Telangana's Miryalguda town late Thursday night, authorities said. The tragedy comes barely a month after the children's father died, leaving the family reeling from yet another devastating loss.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday night in the Kalakawada locality of Miryalguda. According to fire department officials, flames rapidly engulfed a residential house, trapping three occupants inside before help could arrive.

The deceased were identified as Chandrakala (45), her grandson Lakshman (16), and granddaughter Pranathi (14), according to a report by Telangana Today.

The tragedy comes barely a month after the death of the children's father. Following his demise, their mother, Dhanamma, had reportedly travelled to Pune in search of work, leaving the siblings under the care of their grandmother.

Firefighters rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency alert and managed to contain the blaze before it spread to nearby houses. However, the three occupants could not be rescued and were found dead inside the residence.

Authorities suspect a cylinder explosion may have sparked the blaze, though the exact cause remains under investigation.

A Fire Services official said a fire engine was immediately dispatched to the location after the department received information about the incident. The official confirmed that the deceased included an elderly woman, a teenage girl and a teenage boy.

Further details are expected once the investigation is completed.
