Matrimonial dispute between Balakot pilot and IIM graduate: SC urges couple to forgive, avoid revenge

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday urged a fighter pilot who took part in the 2019 Balakot airstrike and his wife, an IIM graduate, to "forgive each other and move ahead" while hearing a plea related to their matrimonial dispute.
A bench comprising Justices P S Narasimha and Atul S Chandurkar encouraged the couple to resolve the issue amicably.
"Do not lead a life of revenge. Both of you are young, and a long life is ahead of you, and you should live a good life. You just forgive and forget each other and move ahead," the bench said during the hearing.
FIR challenge in top court
The air force officer had approached the Supreme Court seeking to quash an FIR lodged against him by his wife. The FIR, he submitted, had subjected him and his family members to continuous mental harassment, allegedly at the hands of his wife and father-in-law.
The plea came after the Punjab and Haryana High Court had earlier dismissed his request to quash the FIR.
The court has issued notice in the matter and advised the couple to consider an amicable settlement.
