How to complete LPG e-KYC at home: Biometric verification mandatory for gas subsidy from October 1

New Delhi: As per the latest notification by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (BAA) will become mandatory from 1 October 2026 for domestic LPG consumers wishing to book refills at the regulated Retail Selling Price (RSP) with applicable subsidy. The ministry stated that the initiative aims to target subsidy delivery transparently, eradicate duplicate or ineligible connections, and prevent the unauthorised diversion of subsidised cylinders for industrial or commercial purposes. Official data confirms that 27.43 crore active domestic consumers, representing 89.9 per cent of the total user base, have already completed authentication as of 19 September 2026. Customers who have fulfilled this requirement do not need to take any further steps and will continue booking refills uninterruptedly.

Methods to Complete Authentication

For consumers who have yet to complete their verification, the ministry noted that refill bookings at subsidised prices will be restored immediately upon finishing the process. Households can complete their BAA using any of the following accessible channels:

• During Refill Delivery: Consumers can complete biometric verification directly with the delivery agent on the spot using the respective Oil Marketing Company (OMC) mobile application.
• At Distributor Showrooms: Customers may visit their local LPG distributorship showroom in person to carry out the process.
• Via OMC Mobile Applications: Users can complete self e-KYC from home by downloading their respective supplier's official application:
  • IndianOil ONE for Indane connections
  • HelloBPCL for Bharatgas connections
  • HP PAY for HP Gas connections

Rules for Non-Authenticated Customers

The official government statement emphasises that BAA is not designed to deny LPG access to any genuine household. Consumers who are unable or choose not to undergo authentication can still obtain LPG cylinders by registering their preference across digital channels, including OMC web portals, mobile apps, WhatsApp chatbots, or IVRS. However, unauthenticated consumers will receive supply strictly at prevailing market prices without subsidy in 5 kg or 10 kg cylinder capacities, subject to local OMC availability.
