The monsoon is gradually preparing to bid farewell to Bengal, with conditions becoming favorable for its withdrawal from several parts of the state.

However, while North Bengal is nearing the end of the monsoon season, South Bengal is likely to see scattered rainfall over the next three to four days.

According to the weather department, there is no immediate threat of heavy rainfall in South Bengal.

Light to moderate rain may continue in several districts until Wednesday, after which conditions are expected to become more favourable for the monsoon to withdraw completely from the region.

Kolkata weather today

Kolkata woke up to clear and sunny skies on Monday. However, the city could see partly cloudy conditions during the day, according to the weather department's forecast.

Isolated light rain is possible in some parts of Kolkata, but residents are unlikely to face heavy showers.

The forecast is therefore expected to bring relief to Puja organisers and shoppers, with no major weather-related disruption anticipated for the city's festive preparations.

The lack of heavy rain will also be good news for those planning to step out for Puja shopping in the city.

South Bengal weather forecast

Several districts of South Bengal may witness scattered light rain on Monday.

Similar weather conditions are expected to continue on Tuesday and Wednesday, with no significant change in the overall weather pattern.

Light to moderate rainfall may occur at isolated places across the region during these three days.

However, the weather department has ruled out heavy rain, offering some relief ahead of the festive season.

The rainfall could continue until Wednesday, following which the conditions are expected to become increasingly favourable for the monsoon to completely withdraw from South Bengal.

North Bengal weather update

North Bengal is also approaching the end of the monsoon season. However, several districts are likely to receive light to moderate rain over the next 24 hours.

The hill districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong may experience rainfall, while the Dooars and adjoining districts, including Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri and Cooch Behar, could also see scattered showers.

The weather department has also forecast gusty winds in parts of North Bengal, with wind speeds potentially reaching 30 to 40 kmph during thunderstorms and rain.

Overall, while rain is likely to persist in parts of Bengal for the next few days, the absence of any forecast for heavy rainfall is expected to provide relief to residents, particularly those making plans for Puja shopping and celebrations.
