Bengaluru: Britain's King Charles and Queen Camilla made a quiet, private visit to Bengaluru, spending three days at a renowned holistic health facility, sources revealed on Wednesday. The couple’s stay was marked by rejuvenative treatments and peaceful walks, underscoring the King’s long-standing appreciation for integrative and traditional Indian therapies.

A wellness retreat

The couple stayed at SOUKYA, the International Holistic Centre in Samethanahalli, near Whitefield, known for its unique combination of wellness treatments like Ayurveda, naturopathy, yoga, and meditation.

Their morning routine featured yoga sessions and relaxation therapies, all part of their tailored wellness program. The royal couple also enjoyed peaceful walks around the center's lush 30-acre campus and visited an on-site organic farm. They were on a special diet to complement the rejuvenation therapies they were receiving, an official from the center said.

This isn’t King Charles’s first visit to the SOUKYA Centre; he previously celebrated his 71st birthday here in 2019. The center is run by Dr. Issac Mathai, one of the few Indian dignitaries invited to the King’s coronation in the UK earlier this year.

Dr. Mathai’s connection with the British monarchy highlights SOUKYA’s reputation as a preferred destination for high-profile visitors seeking wellness treatments rooted in Indian traditions.

King Charles and Ayurveda

King Charles has been a consistent advocate of Ayurveda and traditional wellness. In 2018, he joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi in London to launch the Ayurvedic Centre of Excellence at the UK Science Museum, aiming to foster global research on Ayurveda and yoga. His interest in Ayurveda resonates with India’s emphasis on the healing power of traditional practices, and his visits help bring international recognition to the field.

The couple wrapped up their stay on Wednesday morning, leaving Bengaluru after three days of relaxation and holistic care.
