Bengaluru: Kargil War veteran NK Shivananda Reddy is undergoing treatment in Bengaluru after reportedly consuming poison amid a long-running dispute over land and military benefits, according to a report by News 18.

Reddy served in the Indian Army for 17 years and was seriously injured during a night patrol in the Kargil War. He retired from service on medical grounds in 2000.

Since his retirement, Reddy has been pursuing benefits and suitable land, a process he says has continued for the past 24 years.

He has repeatedly approached government offices seeking a resolution to his grievances and has also staged protests over the issue.
