J&K assembly polls: NC's Tanvir Sadiq wins from Zadibal with a margin of over 16,000 votes

National Conference (NC) leader Tanvir Sadiq won the Zadibal seat in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, defeating the People's Conference's Abid Hussain Ansari by more than 16,000 votes, according to the Election Commission.

Vote Tally

Sadiq, who served as the chief spokesperson of his party, secured 22,189 votes, while Ansari garnered only 6,016 votes.

Zadibal Constituency

Zadibal, a Shia majority seat, was located in the Downtown area of the city.

Former Mayor Among Losers

Former Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu, who polled 2,700 votes, was among eight candidates who lost their security deposits.

Election Results
As per the latest Election Commission data, JKNC won 39 seats and led in 3, while Congress won 6 seats in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP secured victory in 27 seats and led in 2. The Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, held on September 18, September 25, and October 1, witnessed a 63.88% voter turnout, marking the first elections since the abrogation of Article 370. Major parties, including the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and Congress as part of the INDIA alliance, contested the elections jointly, while the PDP and BJP fought independently.
