It is loot, loot, loot... An immoral victory, says Mamata after West Bengal election rout

A visibly angry Mamata Banerjee launched a blistering attack on the Election Commission and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday after results from the West Bengal Assembly elections showed the Trinamool Congress (TMC) pushed to a distant second place in a state the party has dominated for over a decade.
The BJP, which once struggled to gain a foothold in Bengal, has scored what party leaders in Delhi are calling a "historic" win, taking 114 seats and leading in 92, decisively ending Banerjee's bid for a fourth consecutive term as chief minister. For the TMC, which had won 216 seats in 2021, the reversal marks one of the sharpest electoral setbacks in its history.
'It is loot, loot, loot... An immoral victory'
Addressing reporters in Kolkata as trends solidified the BJP’s surge, Banerjee alleged massive rigging and institutional bias, squarely blaming the Election Commission of India (ECI) and central forces for what she repeatedly described as a stolen mandate.
"More than 100 seats, the BJP looted. The Election Commission is the BJP's commission. I complained to the CO and also Manoj Agrawal, but they are not doing anything. Do you think this is a victory? It is an immoral victory, not a moral victory. Whatever the Election Commission has done, along with the Central Forces and the PM & Home Minister, is totally illegal. It is loot, loot, loot. We will bounce back," she said.

The TMC chief, who went into the polls seeking a fourth term, insisted the outcome did not reflect the "true will" of Bengal's voters and accused the authorities of failing to ensure a level playing field during both polling and counting.
'CCTV was switched off... None of our agents was allowed inside'
Banerjee alleged that TMC polling agents and counting representatives were blocked from entering key centres and that physical intimidation was used to keep party cadres at bay.
"From 3 pm onwards, they have been beating us. I was hit. CCTV was switched off. None of our agents was allowed inside (the counting centre). The DO assured me our agents would be allowed, but after that, he was not available anywhere. I complained everywhere," she said, claiming that serious lapses occurred at multiple locations.
Modi hails 'Lotus from Gangotri to Gangasagar'
In sharp contrast to Banerjee's allegations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi framed the Bengal verdict as a sweeping endorsement of the BJP's governance and outreach, casting the party's breakthrough as part of a larger national arc.

Speaking at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, Modi recalled remarks he made after last year's Bihar election results.
"Last year, on November 14th – when the election results for Bihar were declared -- I stood right here, at the BJP Headquarters, and told you all that the river Ganga flows onward from Bihar all the way to Gangasagar. Today, with this victory in Bengal, the lotus has blossomed everywhere – from Gangotri to Gangasagar," he said, describing the outcome as a triumph of "people's power" in a state long seen as a fortress for regional parties.
The Prime Minister also linked the Bengal win to the NDA's strong performance in Assam, where the alliance is set to form government for a third consecutive term. "Along with the Ganga, the Brahmaputra, too, has bestowed its abundant blessings; the people of Assam have placed their trust in the BJP for the third consecutive time," he said.
