New Delhi: Following major operational disruptions in early December, aviation major IndiGo has officially launched its ‘Gesture of Care’ (GoC) package. The initiative aims to compensate thousands of passengers who faced severe flight delays and cancellations between December 3 and December 5, 2025.

If you were among the travellers stranded during this period, here is a comprehensive guide on your eligibility and how to claim your compensation.

The Compensation Package

Under the GoC program, eligible passengers will receive travel vouchers totalling ₹10,000. These are issued as two separate vouchers worth ₹5,000 each.

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers noted that the "worst is behind us," and described the package as an expression of the airline’s commitment to customers who were "severely impacted and stranded" during the crisis.

Are You Eligible?

The airline has set specific criteria for those entitled to the compensation:

  • Travel Dates: Your flight must have been scheduled between 12:00 PM on December 3 and 11:59 PM on December 5, 2025.
  • Disruption Type: Your flight must have been cancelled or delayed by more than three hours.
  • Timing: The disruption must have occurred within four hours of the original scheduled departure time.
  • Inclusions: Minors and infants are also eligible. Their vouchers will be issued to their parents or legal guardians.

How to Claim Your Voucher

IndiGo is automating the process to make it easier for passengers:

  1. Check Your Email: Eligible passengers will receive an email from IndiGo containing a secure link to access their vouchers.
  2. Unregistered Emails: If your email address was not registered at the time of booking, you must register your details with the airline. Once registered, vouchers are typically issued within 24 hours.
  3. Group Bookings: Vouchers are issued per customer, not per booking. For example, a family of four under a single PNR will receive four sets of vouchers (totalling ₹40,000).

Important Terms & Conditions

Before you book your next flight, keep these voucher rules in mind:

  • Validity: The vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issuance. However, you can use them to book travel for dates beyond the 12-month expiry window.
  • Non-Transferable: Vouchers are tied to the name of the passenger on the original ticket and cannot be transferred to others.
  • Usage: They are for one-time use only. You can use them for flight bookings or add-on services like pre-booked meals, seat selection, and excess baggage.
  • Booking Channel: Vouchers must be redeemed through the official IndiGo website.
  • No Restrictions: There are no blackout dates or fare class limitations, allowing passengers to use them for any available flight.

For further assistance, passengers are encouraged to visit the "Gesture of Care" section on the IndiGo website or contact their customer support team.
