New Delhi: A year after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack shook the nation, the Indian Army on Tuesday reiterated its unwavering commitment to combating terrorism, asserting that “India does not forget” and that justice will be delivered with resolve.

Marking the first anniversary of the April 22, 2025, attack, the Army issued a strongly worded message on social media platform X, underlining that any act that crosses “the boundaries of humanity” will invite a decisive response.

The post emphasised national unity and the country’s firm stance against terrorism.

The message comes in remembrance of one of the deadliest civilian attacks in Jammu and Kashmir in recent years, where 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed after terrorists opened fire at Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam.

Army recalls Operation Sindoor

In its message, the Army also referenced Operation Sindoor, India’s military response launched weeks after the attack.

The operation involved precision strikes on terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, targeting multiple sites linked to groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Officials had earlier described the operation as ‘focused, measured and non-escalatory,’ aimed specifically at dismantling terrorist networks while avoiding civilian and military targets.

The strikes marked a significant shift in India’s counter-terror doctrine, reinforcing the message that cross-border terrorism would invite swift and calibrated retaliation.

A year of grief and resolve

The anniversary has also renewed focus on the human cost of the attack. Survivors and families of victims continue to grapple with loss, while the incident remains a stark reminder of vulnerabilities in tourist-heavy regions.

Investigations into the attack had linked it to The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, highlighting the continued threat of cross-border terrorism.

‘India stands united’

The Army’s latest message underscores a broader national sentiment, one that blends remembrance with resolve. By invoking Operation Sindoor and reiterating its stance, the armed forces signalled that accountability for acts of terror remains a priority.

As the country marks one year since the tragedy, the message is clear: the victims are not forgotten, and India’s response to terrorism remains firm, unified, and uncompromising.
