Tit-for-tat move? India removes structures outside Pakistan High Commission | WATCH

New Delhi: What happened outside India's diplomatic mission in Islamabad has now been followed by a similar move in New Delhi. Days after Pakistan removed security barricades and parking poles outside the Indian High Commission, Indian authorities have cleared structures found to be outside the approved boundary of the Pakistan High Commission.

The structures outside the Pakistan mission in New Delhi were demolished by the agencies concerned using a JCB machine, PTI sources said on Thursday.

The action targeted structures and barricades set up along the lane outside the compound, including installations used to manage queues near the visa section.

The demolition left parts of the area outside the mission covered in debris. Metal railings and gates, roofing sheets, bricks, concrete and broken plaster were seen scattered across the paved stretch.

Sections of the outer setup, including corrugated roofing and white metal fencing, were also pulled down. The area around the visa counters appeared to have suffered damage, with portions of plaster and masonry broken away.

The visa windows remained visible despite the demolition. Markings on the counters included "Window 1", "Pakistani Passport Only" and "Window-5 / Collection of Visa Applications".

The main entrance of the Pakistan High Commission was not affected. The white-walled entrance, domed features and large gates carrying the Pakistani emblem remained intact, while barbed-wire fencing could be seen along parts of the compound.
