New Delhi: Top Opposition leaders and thousands of supporters converged at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday for the INDIA bloc's 'Chalo Delhi' protest march, demonstrating a united front against the Central government and intensifying demands for the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise and electoral roll deletions.

The protest march commenced from the Minto Road-Connaught Place junction and proceeded toward Ramlila Maidan, following a public "impeachment" program against the CEC held in the national capital on October 31.

Participating in the rally, senior Congress MP Kapil Sibal framed the massive gathering as a critical turning point against the ruling party.

"This is the beginning of the end of BJP," Sibal told reporters.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu echoed the call for accountability at the Election Commission.

"Gyanesh Kumar should resign," Sukhu said.

Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain highlighted the widespread turnout at the event and indicated that further demonstrations would follow across the nation.

"The massive surge of people you see here has risen from across the entire country. Similar programs are set to take place in every city throughout India," Hussain said.

The rally brought together key figures from across the Opposition spectrum, including Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, MP Abhishek Banerjee, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, Jammu & Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) President Farooq Abdullah, Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti, and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav. (ANI)
