Nalanda/Sheikhpura (Bihar): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of lacking the courage to challenge US President Donald Trump over his repeated claim that Washington had intervened to stop the India-Pakistan conflict following Operation Sindoor.
Speaking at election rallies in Nalanda and Sheikhpura, Gandhi said, “The US President has asserted several times that it was because of him that the conflict between India and Pakistan stopped after Operation Sindoor... But, our prime minister does not have the courage to confront Trump, saying that he is lying. Modi was supposed to visit the US... but he is not going because he is scared of Trump.”
He added, “If the PM has the courage, let him say that Trump did not stop Operation Sindoor. He should speak about it in his rallies in Bihar.”
Invoking his grandmother, former prime minister Indira Gandhi, Rahul said she exemplified true leadership.
“If you want to understand what a PM should be like, look at what Indira Gandhi did in 1971 when she told the then US President, ‘we are not afraid of you’. She was a courageous leader.”
Criticising Home Minister Amit Shah, Rahul alleged that land in Bihar was being handed over to industrial houses at throwaway prices while job creation for local youth remained neglected.
He also targeted the BJP for its economic policies, saying Modi’s government had failed to promote domestic manufacturing.
“I want to see ‘Made in Bihar’ on mobile phones and devices, not ‘Made in China’. But Modi is not capable of making that happen.”
Gandhi further accused the NDA of “vote theft” in the previous elections and said the government was trying to “destroy the Constitution framed by BR Ambedkar”.
“This Constitution is the voice of Hindustan... but the BJP-RSS people want to destroy it. The people of Bihar should ensure that no one can demolish the Constitution.”
The Congress leader also criticised the PM for celebrating Chhath Puja in a specially prepared pond while ordinary devotees offered prayers in a polluted Yamuna.
Gandhi urged people to see through what he called a “remote-controlled government” led by Modi, Shah and the RSS.
“Two Indias have now emerged – one belongs to common people, and the other to a few corporates and Modi. This is why Bihar suffers in poverty.”
He promised that if the INDIA bloc came to power, it would form a government representing farmers, labourers, Dalits and the marginalised, while also pledging to establish a world-class university in Nalanda.
