Goa: Police have launched a strict crackdown on domestic tourists accused of harassing foreign nationals on beaches, warning that anyone caught clicking photos without consent or forcing selfies will be detained immediately.

The action follows multiple complaints of Indian tourists photographing foreign women without permission and engaging in inappropriate behaviour at popular beach locations.

Police recently registered a case at Calangute beach in North Goa after two tourists from Odisha allegedly harassed a Russian woman. The accused — Akash Minaz (19) and Dhayan Tappo (34) — are accused of forcibly taking photographs with the tourist and touching her inappropriately.

A senior police official said clear instructions have been issued to all beach patrol units. Any tourist found clicking photos of foreign women without consent or forcing selfies will be detained on the spot.

Security has been tightened across key tourist hotspots including Calangute, Baga and Anjuna beaches. Police teams have been deployed to monitor crowd behaviour and respond swiftly to complaints.

The move is aimed at ensuring the safety of foreign tourists and protecting Goa’s image as a safe destination. Police have urged visitors to respect personal boundaries and local laws, warning that harassment will invite strict legal action.
