Ganesh Visarjan 2026 on September 25: Check auspicious timings and puja vidhi
The sound of 'Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya’ will once again accompany the farewell of Lord Ganesha as devotees prepare to immerse idols on Friday, September 25, marking the culmination of the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Ganesh Visarjan 2026 coincides with Anant Chaturdashi, the day traditionally observed as the conclusion of Ganeshotsav. After days of prayers, offerings, aartis, and celebrations, devotees will carry their idols for immersion, seeking Bappa’s blessings before bidding him goodbye until the following year.
According to the Hindu Panchang, Chaturdashi Tithi begins at 11.18 pm on September 24 and ends at 11.06 pm on September 25.
Despite the tithi beginning late on September 24, Anant Chaturdashi will be observed on September 25 as Chaturdashi prevails at sunrise.
Ganesh Visarjan 2026 date and timings
For devotees in Delhi-NCR, including Noida, the auspicious Visarjan timings are:
- Morning: 6.10 am to 10.42 am, covering Chara, Labha and am rita Choghadiya
- Afternoon: 12.12 pm to 1.43 pm, during Shubha Choghadiya
- Evening: 4.43 pm to 6.14 pm, during Chara Choghadiya
- Night: 9.13 pm to 10.43 pm, another auspicious window for immersion
For those carrying out the ritual later in the day, the night muhurat falls between 9.13 pm and 10.43 pm.

Ganesh Visarjan Puja Vidhi
- Clean the worship area: Clean the space and prepare the idol for the final puja before immersion.
- Offer bhog: Offer flowers, durva grass, fruits and sweets to Lord Ganesha. Modak or laddoo can be offered as bhog.
- Light a diya and perform aarti: Light a diya and conduct the final aarti while expressing gratitude to Lord Ganesha for being part of the Ganeshotsav celebrations.
- Seek blessings: Devotees traditionally pray for wisdom, peace, and freedom from obstacles.
- Ask for forgiveness: Families may seek forgiveness for any mistakes or shortcomings committed during the period of worship.
- Take the idol for immersion: Carefully carry the idol to the immersion site amid prayers and devotional chants.
- For home Visarjan: A small natural-clay idol can be immersed in a clean container. The remaining clay and water should be disposed of responsibly.
- Follow safety guidelines: At public immersion sites, devotees should follow applicable local environmental and safety guidelines.
Why is Ganesh Visarjan performed on Anant Chaturdashi?
Anant Chaturdashi is observed on Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturdashi and is also associated with Lord Vishnu in his Anant form.
For Ganesha devotees, Anant Chaturdashi marks the end of the 10-day Ganeshotsav.
