French President Macron spotted at iconic Marine Drive for morning run | VIDEO

French President Emmanuel Macron kicked off his Mumbai visit with an early-morning jog along the city’s famed Marine Drive, offering locals a rare glimpse of his fitness-focused routine. The promenade, usually busy with walkers and chai vendors, became the backdrop for the 48-year-old leader’s energising start to a day packed with diplomatic engagements.
Morning jog with a view
Mumbai’s early risers were treated to an unusual sight on Tuesday. Dressed in a navy blue T-shirt and black sunglasses, Macron ran along the coastal promenade accompanied by his security team, who struggled to keep pace. A video of the jog quickly went viral, capturing the French President’s brisk routine before his official schedule began.
Unlike typical celebrity appearances, there was no media frenzy. Locals, sipping cutting chai or nibbling on vada pav, paused to watch the heavy security detail, often failing to recognise the president. The casual morning jog reflected Macron’s well-documented commitment to fitness, which has featured jogging in Chengdu, burpees in Abu Dhabi, and boxing in France.
Paying tribute and official welcomes
After his run, Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron visited the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel to lay floral tributes to the victims of the November 2008 terror attacks. Their homage was a solemn moment in a city still marked by memories of that tragic day.
Earlier, Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis received the French leader at Mumbai airport. Macron is on a three-day official visit to India, invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in the AI Impact Summit and hold bilateral talks in Mumbai.
Strategic discussions and innovation focus
Macron’s discussions with PM Modi will cover defence, trade, skilling, health, and supply chains, with particular attention on defence after India’s recent approval to procure 114 Rafale fighter jets. The leaders are also set to inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026, signalling a push for deeper cooperation in emerging sectors.
Following Mumbai, Macron will travel to New Delhi for the AI Summit, continuing his official agenda that blends diplomacy with public engagement, and a visible nod to personal fitness as part of his leadership persona.
