FASTag annual pass receives massive response:1.4 lakh activations nationwide on day 1

New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has successfully launched the FASTag Annual Pass at around 1,150 toll plazas on national highways and expressways across the country.
The annual pass has received an overwhelming response from highway users, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. By 7 pm on the first day of implementation, August 15, approximately 1.4 lakh users had purchased and activated the pass, recording around 1.39 lakh toll transactions.
At any given time, around 20,000–25,000 users access the Rajmargyatra app, while annual pass users receive SMS notifications confirming zero toll deductions, NHAI said.
“NHAI officials and nodal officers have been appointed at each toll plaza to ensure a smooth travel experience for pass holders. We are addressing user queries through multiple channels, and the 1033 National Highway Helpline has been strengthened with over 100 additional executives to resolve grievances,” said the highways authority.
The FASTag Annual Pass offers a seamless and cost-effective travel option, eliminating the need for frequent FASTag recharges. The pass is valid for one year or 200 toll plaza crossings, available at a one-time fee of ₹3,000. It applies to all non-commercial vehicles with a valid FASTag and is activated within two hours of payment through the Rajmargyatra app or the NHAI website.
With a penetration rate of around 98 per cent and more than 8 crore users, FASTag has transformed the electronic toll collection system in India.
“The introduction of the annual pass will enhance the FASTag user experience and make journeys on national highways and expressways more economical and seamless,” the ministry said.
