PM Modi’s investment ad promising ₹1.5 Lakh return is fake, says PIB Fact Check

New Delhi: A digitally altered advertisement is making rounds on social media, falsely suggesting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is endorsing an investment scheme offering massive returns. The morphed photo, generated using artificial intelligence, claims that an investment of ₹21,350 will yield returns of up to ₹1.5 lakh within a month.
The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to debunk the viral pic. It confirmed that the advertisement is fake and has no link to the Prime Minister.
Taking to X, the post said, “PM Narendra Modi endorsing an investment scheme? Here’s the truth! An AI-generated, morphed advertisement is circulating online, falsely claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is promoting an investment scheme that promises ₹1.5 lakh returns in just one month for an investment of ₹21,350.”
PIB shared an image of the fake advertisement. It shows what appears to be a screenshot from The Indian Express, falsely quoting the Prime Minister in support of a so-called “MY FINANCIAL PROJECT.” The fake layout includes the Indian Express branding, a photo of PM Modi, and text reading: “₹21,350 today → ₹1,500,000 in a month. India is already doing it!”
The PIB has urged the public to remain vigilant and report such misleading content. It warned that the image being circulated is fake and AI-generated, and clarified that the media outlet has not published any such article. Citizens have been cautioned not to click on any links accompanying such images, as they may lead to phishing attempts.
