Air India, IndiGo to operate extra flights to repatriate passengers from Kathmandu

New Delhi: Air India and IndiGo will operate extra flights to Kathmandu to help bring back passengers stranded in Nepal's capital, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said on Wednesday. The minister also mentioned that airlines have been advised to keep their fares reasonable.

"Due to airport closure in Nepal, many home-bound passengers were unable to return from Kathmandu. With the reopening of the airport operation in Kathmandu, @MoCA_GoI, in coordination with Air India & IndiGo, has arranged additional flights this evening & over the next few days, alongside scheduled services resuming tomorrow," Naidu posted on X.

Air India confirmed it is operating special flights from Delhi to Kathmandu today and tomorrow to assist passengers stranded due to the recent unrest in Nepal. Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu had been closed amid the protests but reopened on Wednesday, allowing the resumption of flights.
