Samastha to participate in CPM seminar against UCC

Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama will participate in the seminar organised by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) against the Uniform Civil Code, announced Samastha state president Jiffri Muthukoya Thangal. Renowned film producer Achani Ravi passes away at 90

Noted film producer K Ravindranathan Nair aka Achani Ravi passed away on Saturday. He was 90. He breathed his last at his residence in Kollam. Ravi, who turned 90 last Monday, has produced 14 movies and also acted in ‘Esthappan’, directed by G Aravindan. His movies have bagged several honours including 18 national and state awards. Kolkata: Bengal's rural polls drew towards a bloody finish as 12 people died, bombs exploded and all parties levelled allegations of strong arm tactics against their rivals on Saturday. Twelve people, including eight from the ruling TMC and one worker each of the BJP, CPI(M), Congress and ISF died since midnight in the crucial three-tier panchayat polls, officials said. Read more
