'Education belongs to all of us': Abhinav Bindra shares message amid student protests

Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra on Thursday shared a message on social media amid the ongoing student protests, saying education is an issue that 'belongs to all of us' and should rise above political differences.

'I have never considered myself a political person. But I do believe that some issues belong to all of us, regardless of where we stand. Education is one of them,' Bindra wrote on X.

Without directly referring to the protests, the Beijing Olympics champion stressed that a nation's strength is reflected not only in its economy or achievements but also in the opportunities it creates for its youth.

'The measure of a nation is found not only in its economy or its achievements, but in the opportunities it creates for its young people. An education system that inspires confidence, rewards merit and nurtures curiosity is one of a nation's greatest strengths,' he said.

Calling for collective action, Bindra urged citizens to come together to ensure the education system remains a source of opportunity and innovation.

'I hope we can all unite and work together to continually strengthen our education system, so that it remains a source of opportunity, innovation and hope for generations to come,' he added.

Bindra's post comes at a time when student protests have intensified across parts of the country, with education and students' rights emerging as key issues in the ongoing demonstrations.

While he did not endorse any political side or directly comment on the protests, his appeal for safeguarding education quickly drew attention on social media.
