Week after basement tragedy, 3 IAS coaching centres to give Rs 10 lakh each to victims' kin

New Delhi: Even as investigation continues into the death of three students of Rau's IAS study circle who perished in the flooded basement library of the institution on July 27 in Delhi's Old Rajendra Nagar, three coaching centres have come forward to "assist" students of Drishti IAS.
Families of the three victims -- Shreya Yadav, Tanya Soni and Nivin Dalvin -- are yet to cope with their losses. Meanwhile, three other IAS coaching centres have come forward to dole out offers for students from Rau's IAS study circle besides providing Rs 10 lakh each to the deceased students.
One of them is Drishti IAS, who founder Vikas Divyakirti issued a press release expressing condolences to the families of deceased students.
Drishti IAS is offering free academic support, including classes for general studies, test series, and optional subjects, to current students of Rau's IAS. This support will be available at the Karol Bagh office starting Monday, August 5, 2024. The institute invited students who wish to avail of this facility to contact the help desk.
Drishti IAS announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to each of the bereaved families. The institute acknowledged that no amount of money can alleviate the pain of losing a child, but hopes this contribution will help in some way.
But Drishti IAS is not the only coaching centre offering Rs 10 lakh compensation.
Another Old Rajinder Nagar-based coaching academy, Vajiram & Ravi has offered to provide free admission to students currently enrolled in Rau's IAS Study Circle for the Main Exam 2024 and Prelim-cum-Mains Exam 2025. This includes General Studies classes for the 2025 Prelims and Main Exam, CSAT course, and Optional Subjects.
As a gesture of solidarity with the families of the deceased students, Vajiram & Ravi too announced a financial contribution of Rs 10 lakh to each of the three families.
Similarly, NEXT IAS too announced a financial contribution of Rs 10 lakh each to the next of kin of the bereaved families.
To support the students affected by the disruption, NEXT IAS too is providing classes for the remaining syllabus for students enrolled in Rau's IAS current session (GS/Optional Foundation courses) without any charges.
Additionally, NEXT IAS announced that it is converting one of its classrooms into a reading room, which can be utilized by all CSE Mains 2024 appearing students from 3 PM to 9 PM starting from August 10, 2024, till September 30, 2024.
