New Delhi: A video showing a child throwing water balloons at bikers from a moving car on a Delhi flyover has gone viral, raising serious concerns about road safety and the potential for fatal accidents.

The clip, which first appeared on Instagram before being widely shared on X, was recorded by a motorcyclist riding on the flyover. It shows a child sitting in the backseat of a car with registration number DL2CBF0214, tossing water balloons at passing two-wheelers. In one scene, a balloon hits a rider, causing him to wobble dangerously and almost lose control.

“A kid sitting in the backseat of this car, was throwing water balloons at bike riders on a flyover. One rider was seconds away from a fatal fall, this could have been a death, not a ‘prank’,” says the person filming the video.

The incident reportedly took place on March 27. Social media users have reacted strongly, warning that such stunts are reckless and could easily have ended in tragedy. Many have called for stricter action against those responsible, emphasising that road safety is not a matter for pranks or viral content.

After the video went viral, the Delhi Police took cognisance of the incident and initiated action.

In a post on X, Delhi Police wrote, “Taking cognizance of a social media complaint, Delhi Police took swift action on a dangerous incident reported from Bhalaswa Flyover. A minor in a moving car was throwing water balloons at motorists, causing a rider to lose balance and narrowly escape a serious accident.
