Delhi rains disrupt flights, trigger waterlogging and traffic woes across NCR | WATCH

Heavy rain lashed Delhi and adjoining NCR areas on Saturday morning, prompting airlines to warn passengers about possible flight delays while waterlogging disrupted traffic movement in several parts of the national capital.

IndiGo, Air India and Akasa Air issued advisories warning that adverse weather conditions could affect flight operations to and from Delhi.

Passengers were advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport and allow extra travel time due to slower road conditions.

However, Delhi Airport authorities said flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport were normal as of 10.30 am. Airport operator GMR said its ground teams were working with stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and advised passengers to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight information.

Meanwhile, moderate showers across Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad brought down temperatures but led to waterlogging in several areas, including Palam Airport tunnel, Geeta Colony, Mandi House and Subroto Park.

The India Meteorological Department issued a yellow-to-orange alert and forecast light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 kmph across Delhi. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius.

Delhi Traffic Police also warned commuters of possible disruptions due to temporary waterlogging and rehearsals linked to the upcoming BRICS Summit.

Motorists were advised to avoid parking or stopping under bridges, underpasses and waterlogged stretches.
