47.7 lakh names excluded in Delhi draft voter list; claims open until September 30

New Delhi: Delhi’s provisional electoral register was released on Monday, revealing that 4.77 million voters out of the capital's 14.5 million registered electors have been omitted from the list.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi confirmed that individuals who have been excluded may submit claims alongside supporting documentation using Form 6 until 30 September. The definitive voter register is scheduled for release on 4 November.

In accordance with the updated timeline set by the Election Commission, official verification of claims and objections, as well as the notice and disposal proceedings, will remain open through 29 October.

The draft register incorporates roughly 9.75 million voters whose enumeration submissions were processed and digitised during the Special Intensive Revision, a door-to-door verification drive that ran from 30 June to 17 August.

Overall, enumeration details for approximately 67.18 per cent of Delhi’s 14,510,299 eligible voters were successfully digitised throughout the exercise.

The remaining 4.77 million citizens were classified as "uncollectable" under the Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate, and Others (ASDDO) categories, leaving them absent from the preliminary roll.

Completion rates for digitisation differed markedly across the city's 70 Assembly constituencies.

Rohini registered the highest completion rate at 83.43 per cent, whereas Tughlakabad recorded the lowest turnout at 52.15 per cent.

The Special Intensive Revision was launched to update and construct a refreshed electoral list via direct door-to-door enumeration.

Voters whose documentation was not collected during the initial drive retain the opportunity to request inclusion through the formal claims and objections procedure.
