Delhi Police nab suspected spy linked to foreign nuclear scientists; forged documents seized

New Delhi: The Delhi Police have busted a major espionage network with the arrest of a high-profile suspect from the Seemapuri area of the national capital, officials said on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Adil Hussaini (59), also known by multiple aliases — Syed Adil Hussain, Mohammad Adil Hussaini, and Nasimuddin. A resident of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, Adil was apprehended following intelligence inputs about his suspicious activities.

Police sources said that Adil, along with his brother Akhtar Hussaini, is suspected of supplying sensitive information to foreign countries and obtaining multiple Indian passports using forged documents.

According to a report by India Today, the accused had travelled to several countries, including Pakistan, and was in contact with foreign nuclear scientists.

During the operation, police recovered one original and two forged passports from his possession. Authorities have secured a seven-day police custody remand for further interrogation.

A senior Delhi Police officer said that the suspect’s travel history and possession of fake documents raised major concerns.

“The accused was found in possession of a fake passport and had travelled to multiple countries, including Pakistan,” the officer said.

Investigators revealed that Adil, an Indian national, had made several foreign trips in recent years, including to sensitive destinations.

“He was allegedly attempting to gather sensitive information related to national security. His movements and connections are under detailed scrutiny,” a senior police official added.
