Delhi man arrested after allegedly murdering wife and asking friend to help dispose of body

New Delhi: A 24-year-old delivery executive has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 20-year-old wife in Delhi's Munirka after allegedly confessing the crime to a friend and asking for help in disposing of her body, police said.

The accused, identified as Anurag alias Abhishek, was arrested after his friend alerted police through the emergency helpline, leading officers to the couple's residence in the Pal Dairy area of Munirka.

According to police, a PCR call was received at Kishangarh Police Station on August 2 after the caller reported that his friend had allegedly killed his wife and was asking for help to dispose of the body.

Police immediately reached the spot, where the caller identified the accused standing outside his residence. He was taken into custody.

During the investigation, the complainant told police that the accused had called him on the night of August 1 and urgently asked him to come to his house.

When he entered the room, the complainant allegedly found the accused's wife, Kanika, lying on the bed in a pool of blood with multiple injuries.

Police said the accused allegedly confessed that he had killed his wife and repeatedly asked the complainant to help dispose of the body.

The complainant later retrieved his mobile phone from the accused on the pretext of calling family members to open the gate. After reaching upstairs, he dialled 112 and informed the police.

Police accompanied the complainant and the accused to the room, where Kanika's body was found. She was taken to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

The crime scene was secured, and teams from the Crime Team and the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) examined the spot.

Based on the complainant's statement and other evidence, police registered an FIR under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Kishangarh Police Station.

Police said the accused has been arrested and further investigation is underway. Kanika, a homemaker, had married the accused in 2023, police added.
