2 dead as overspeeding bus overturns near Jhandewalan temple in Delhi | WATCH

A late-night accident in central Delhi claimed two lives after a double-decker sleeper bus overturned in the Karol Bagh area. The incident occurred around 1 am on Tuesday near the Jhandewalan temple, when the vehicle, which was travelling from Jaipur, reportedly went out of control.

There were roughly 25 passengers on board at the time of the crash. At least 23 people sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Emergency services responded quickly, deploying fire tenders and rescue teams to the site.

According to eyewitness accounts, the situation was chaotic immediately after the accident, with several passengers trapped inside the mangled vehicle. Two children and a woman were reportedly stuck beneath the overturned bus before being pulled out by rescuers.

Images from the spot showed extensive damage to the vehicle, including shattered windows, dislodged seats and parts scattered across the road. The force of the overturn also caused wheels to detach, indicating the severity of the crash.

Initial investigations point towards overspeeding as a possible cause, though authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances leading to the accident. The incident took place amid ongoing Navratri festivities, with the nearby Jhandewalan temple witnessing increased footfall at the time.
