# News Desk

New Delhi: A Delhi lower court judge, Aman Kumar Sharma, was found dead on Saturday in the Safdarjung area of the national capital, in what police have described as a case of alleged suicide.

According to initial information, he is reported to have died by hanging. Delhi Police has begun inquest proceedings, and further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Family alleges distress and domestic issues

Following his death, family members have claimed that the judge had been experiencing significant mental distress in recent months and was facing difficulties at home.

A relative, identified as the father-in-law of the judge’s sister, recounted the sequence of events leading up to the incident.

“I spoke to my son on the call, who told me that they are taking Aman to Safdarjung Hospital. By the time I reached the hospital, the doctor had already declared him dead,” he said.

He added that, according to the statement given by the judge’s father to the police, Aman had called him around 10 pm the previous night, expressing emotional distress.

“He said it had become difficult for him to continue living. His father left Alwar immediately and reached here around midnight,” the relative stated.

Allegations of conflict within household

The relative further alleged that Aman had been dealing with ongoing domestic issues.

“Upon arriving, he learned that Aman had been having conflicts with his wife. He told his father that he had been harassed for the last two months,” he said.

He also claimed that tensions escalated within the household.

“Aman’s father said that his daughter-in-law told him that if you don’t leave from here, she would call the police. The next morning, Aman's father tried to contact his daughter-in-law’s parents, but they had blocked his phone. Then an argument broke out in the house,” the relative added.

Additionally, he alleged that the sister of Aman’s wife had been “controlling the household”.

Body discovered after search

According to the account provided by the relative, Aman was later found inside a locked bathroom after an extended search.

“When he called his phone, it was ringing inside the bathroom. The door was locked. A guard broke the window and entered and found him hanging,” he said.
