Delhi-bound IndiGo Dreamliner returns to London after technical issue

New Delhi: A Delhi-bound IndiGo Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner returned to London Heathrow early Wednesday after a technical issue was detected shortly after take-off, according to the airline.

The aircraft was operating IndiGo flight 6E 04 from London Heathrow to New Delhi. It remained airborne for around an hour before turning back to London, according to flight-tracking website Flightradar24.com.

The aircraft landed safely at London Heathrow, the airline said.

IndiGo, without disclosing details of the technical issue, said, "Technical issue was detected shortly after take-off on IndiGo flight 6E 04 operating from London to New Delhi on 22 September 2026. Following standard operating procedures, the pilots decided to turn back and landed the aircraft safely at London Heathrow Airport."

The aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance checks and will resume operations after securing all necessary clearances, the airline said.

The specific nature of the technical problem and the number of passengers onboard the aircraft were not immediately known.

According to Flightradar24.com, the flight took off from London Heathrow at around 12.40 am IST on Wednesday and returned to the airport at around 2 am.
