Chaos at Cuttack Bali Yatra: Two injured as crowd surges during Shreya Ghoshal concert

Bhuwaneshar: Cuttack’s annual Bali Yatra witnessed a tense moment on Thursday evening when a massive crowd gathered to watch Bollywood singer Shreya Ghoshal perform on the fair’s final day. The overwhelming rush near the main stage led to a stampede-like situation, resulting in at least two visitors getting injured.

Eyewitnesses reported that thousands of attendees attempted to move closer to the stage, pushing against barricades and causing panic. Some individuals collapsed due to suffocation and exhaustion. The injured were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

According to OTV reports senior police officials, including the twin city Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh and Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP), arrived at the scene to restore order and ensure the safety of attendees. Authorities took immediate action to manage the crowd and prevent further incidents, ensuring the concert continued without additional disruptions.

The final day of Cuttack Bali Yatra on Thursday turned chaotic as thousands of visitors thronged the trade fair to witness Bollywood playback singer Shreya Ghoshal’s live concert. Soon after the singer arrived, crowd pressure near the main stage escalated when visitors attempted to break barricades to get closer, triggering a stampede-like situation.

Reports confirmed that two attendees fell unconscious amid the rush and were promptly taken to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Eyewitnesses noted that the incident caused temporary panic and confusion, but no fatalities were reported.
