Gurugram: Sonia Gandhi, Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Chairperson, underwent a routine medical check-up at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Wednesday and returned home the same day, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said.

According to Ramesh, the hospital visit was scheduled and not linked to any emergency or serious health concern. He confirmed that Gandhi was admitted briefly for the examination and discharged after the check-up was completed.

Following the medical assessment, she returned to her residence later in the day. No further details regarding her health condition were shared, but the statement indicated that the visit was part of a regular health routine.

The update comes amid separate political remarks made by Jairam Ramesh, who recently criticised the Central government over alleged irregularities in national-level examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). He has also called for structural reforms within the agency, citing concerns raised in past reports and opposition claims.

However, in the case of Sonia Gandhi’s hospital visit, Congress leaders have maintained that it was a standard medical check-up and there is no cause for concern.
