Relief for businesses as commercial LPG price drops ₹51.50

New Delhi: Oil marketing companies cut the price of commercial LPG cylinders by 51.50 rupees, effective Sept. 1, marking the latest in a series of monthly revisions.

With the change, a 19-kg commercial cylinder in Delhi will cost 1,580 rupees. Prices of 14.2-kg domestic cylinders remain unchanged, the companies said Sunday.

The reduction follows earlier cuts of 33.50 rupees in August and 58.50 rupees in July. In June, the rate was lowered by 24 rupees to 1,723.50, while April saw prices at 1,762 rupees. February brought a 7-rupee drop, but March registered a 6-rupee increase.

Analysts said the move will ease costs for restaurants, hotels and other businesses that depend on commercial cylinders. Prices are revised monthly based on global crude rates and market conditions.

Separately, the Union Cabinet this month approved a targeted subsidy of 300 rupees per 14.2-kg cylinder for up to nine refills a year under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The scheme, launched in 2016 to provide deposit-free LPG connections to poor households, has more than 103 million beneficiaries nationwide as of July 1. IANS
